Yunxiang Chen

I am a mathematician in the Computational Mathematics Group at PNNL. My work at PNNL is using computational, mathematical, and AI tools to understand the hydro-biogeochemical processes in river ecosystems and the coupled flow and electrochemical processes in flow batteries. My current research foci are to develop a digital twin for inorganic and organic redox flow batteries and to develop vision AI and cloud computing-based multiscale modeling framework to study the flow-sediment-microbiome interactions at stream-groundwater interface. Major software products include EZBattery, a near real-time simulation tool for various flow battery technology (https://github.com/pnnl/EZBattery) and AI4GSD, a fast vision AI-enabled Python package for measuring riverbed grain size distributions from smartphone and drone videos (https://github.com/pnnl/AI4GSD).
