Alex A Bautista Society for Freshwater Science 2026 Annual Meeting

Alex A Bautista

Alex Bautista is a junior at SUNY ESF where they are majoring in Conservation Biology with a minor in Applied Statistics. Their interest in aquatic invertebrates and freshwater communities stemmed from their time in the Future Farmers of America association where they were able to compete in entomological competitions. These contests, in addition to multiple entomology field-courses, showcased the immense diversity found among insects and highlighted their importance to the global environment. Enlightened from these experiences, Alex has dedicated their time at ESF to working with faculty to conduct burying beetle surveys, sample streams for aquatic invertebrates, and building their growing collection of insects. Alex hopes to pursue a career in conservation planning where they can utilize their passion for entomology to create a sustainable future. When they are not busy kick sampling in streams, they enjoy rock climbing and seeing live music shows.
