Sumon K. Das
I am an M.S. student in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arkansas. I specialize in hydroclimatology, freshwater systems, and geospatial data science. My research focuses on the detection, characterization, and modeling of lake and river heatwaves, compound heat–drought extremes, and their ecological and water-quality impacts using satellite remote sensing, in situ observations, and machine learning. I am particularly interested in developing scalable, AI-driven early warning frameworks to assess climate risks and inform resilience planning across U.S. river basins.
